Gerald Cadorath plating in 1954
|
|
A Timeline
|
1954 -
|
Gerald Cadorath rents the plating facility of
a local lamp company with the deal that he would do all their plating, but be able to do
his own as well. This is the beginning of Cadorath Plating Co. Ltd. Approximately 3 months later, he moved Cadorath Plating Co. Ltd. into it's first
official site on Higgins Avenue, in an old livery stable. It is in this location
where he finally hires his first employee

1957 -
|
Cadorath Plating Co. Ltd. moves to a new 2
storey location on Ellen Street - this is the building where the company began to perform
hard chrome plating. |
1959 -
|
A second employee is hired - Albert Turkula started with
the company and is still a loyal and valued employee today. |

Gerald and Blanche Cadorath purchase their 1st building.
Cadorath Plating Co. Ltd. moves to 1438 Church Avenue. At that time, this
building was 4,000 square feet - and the company barely filled one corner of the building. |
1976 -
|
Gerald Cadorath sold shares of his company to Wilf Piche
and retired, leaving Wilf Piche at the helm. |
1977 -
|
After 10 months of retirement, Gerald Cadorath returns to
the company he had started and nurtured throughout the years of growth and instability. Gerald and Wilf now find that Cadorath Plating Co. Ltd. is too small for two
people to run. Together, they came across the making of auger flighting. In
order for them to see how this product was made, they found that they had to go to
England. In England and Sweden, they found some machines working and also found a
supplier of these machines. They purchased a machine and so began Uniflyte Co. Ltd.
Uniflyte now boasts a total of 10 flighting machines.
|
1979 -
|
1438 Church Avenue is now too small even
after 5 additions. What was once too big at it's original 4,000 sq. ft., is now
13,000 sq. ft. and still not big enough. A new 10,000 sq.
ft. building was built at 2150 Logan Avenue, however, 1438 Church Avenue is still open and
functioning, even today.
